Cold Process vs. Commercial Soap

Cold process soap is handcrafted from scratch using natural oils, fats, and lye through a chemical reaction called saponification. This method retains the natural glycerin in the soap, which is moisturizing for the skin. Cold process soap is often made in small batches, allowing soapmakers to customize each batch with natural ingredients and phthalate-free fragrances or essential oils resulting in a more natural, unique, and artisanal product.

Commercial soap, on the other hand, is often mass-produced using harsh chemicals, synthetic ingredients, and cheap perfumes or fragrances, which may cause skin irritation. Surprisingly, many commercial soaps are detergent-based rather than true soap, leading to potential skin issues.
